Overview
TVBuddy: Smart TV Companion (“TVBuddy”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is designed to help users connect to and control compatible Smart TVs through their mobile device.
We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how the app works, what information may be used, and how we protect user data.
TVBuddy does not require mandatory user account creation and does not sell personal data to third parties.
Information We Do Not Collect
TVBuddy does not collect by default:
- Account passwords or credentials
- Precise GPS location
- Browsing or viewing history
- Personal media files stored on your device
- TV pairing codes after connection
- Personal data for third-party advertising or tracking
Optional Support Information
If you choose to contact TVBuddy Support, we may optionally ask you to provide information to help us assist you effectively, such as:
- Full name
- Email address
- Mobile number
- TV brand or model
- App version
- Device type or operating system
- Description of the issue you are experiencing
This information is:
- Voluntarily provided by you
- Used for customer support, troubleshooting, and service-related communication
- Not required to use the core app features

Analytics, Session Replay & Product Improvement Tools
TVBuddy may use third-party analytics and product improvement tools, including UXCam and Mixpanel, to help us understand app performance, diagnose technical issues, improve app functionality, and enhance the user experience.
These tools may collect limited technical and usage information, such as:
- App interactions and feature usage
- Screen flow and navigation behavior
- Taps, gestures, and session activity
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- Crash, performance, and debugging information
- Connection-related events, such as successful or failed TV connection attempts
- General analytics events related to onboarding, subscriptions, and app usage
UXCam
TVBuddy may use UXCam for user experience analytics, session replay, crash analysis, and troubleshooting.
UXCam may help us understand how users interact with the app, where users experience issues, and how we can improve app usability and performance.
Where applicable, we configure masking, blocking, or privacy settings to avoid recording sensitive information. We do not intentionally record or collect sensitive information such as:
- Passwords
- Payment information
- Authentication codes
- TV pairing codes
- Personal media content
- Private messages or sensitive personal information
UXCam data is used only for internal product improvement, troubleshooting, and user experience analysis.
Mixpanel
TVBuddy may use Mixpanel for product analytics, event tracking, and funnel analysis.
Mixpanel helps us understand how users move through the app, which features are being used, where users may experience difficulties, and how we can improve onboarding, subscription flows, connection flows, and overall product performance.
Mixpanel may process event-based usage data, such as app opens, screen views, feature usage, subscription flow events, and technical app performance events.
Mixpanel data is used only for internal analytics, product improvement, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring. It is not sold to third parties and is not used for third-party advertising.
Analytics Data Use
Analytics data collected through TVBuddy is used to:
- Improve app stability and performance
- Diagnose crashes, bugs, and technical issues
- Improve TV connection flows
- Understand feature usage
- Improve onboarding and subscription experiences
- Improve customer support and troubleshooting

Limited Location Information
TVBuddy may access approximate location information as required by the operating system to support local network discovery and nearby device functionality.

- Is used only to determine network availability and device connectivity
- Is not used to track users
- Is not used for advertising
- Is not sold to third parties
TVBuddy does not access precise GPS location data.
Local Network, Nearby Devices & Casting
TVBuddy may request access to:
- Local Network
- Nearby Devices
- Photos
- Videos
- Music / Audio files
These permissions are required to:
- Discover compatible Smart TVs on your local network
- Establish direct local connections with your TV
- Enable media casting, including photos, videos, and audio from your device to your TV
All media access:
- Is used only for app functionality and casting
- Occurs locally between your device and your TV where technically possible
- Is not intentionally uploaded, stored, or processed on our servers
- Is not saved to any external database by TVBuddy
TV Pairing
Some TVs may require a temporary on-screen pairing code to confirm the connection between your mobile device and your TV. This code is:
- Used only to confirm the local connection
- Not stored after pairing
- Not used for analytics
- Not sold or shared for advertising purposes
Data Storage and Retention
TVBuddy stores only the data necessary to operate, improve, and support the app.
Some app-related data may remain locally on your device, such as preferences, connection settings, or temporary app data required for functionality.
Analytics and support-related information may be processed by third-party service providers such as UXCam and Mixpanel for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the app, improve performance, resolve issues, comply with legal obligations, and support business operations.
Third-Party Service Providers
TVBuddy may use trusted third-party service providers to help operate, analyze, improve, and support the app.
These providers may include analytics, crash reporting, customer support, hosting, payment, and subscription management tools.
These third-party providers are only authorized to process information as necessary to provide their services to TVBuddy and are not permitted to sell user data on our behalf.
Subscriptions and Purchases
TVBuddy may offer subscriptions or in-app purchases through Apple App Store or Google Play.
Payment and billing information is processed by Apple or Google, depending on your device and platform. TVBuddy does not directly collect or store your full payment card details.
Subscription status, purchase status, or entitlement information may be used to provide access to paid features and manage subscription-related functionality.
Your Choices
You may control certain permissions through your device settings, including access to Local Network, Nearby Devices, Photos, Videos, Music, and other device permissions.
If you disable certain permissions, some TVBuddy features may not work properly, including TV discovery, remote connection, or media casting.
You may also contact us if you have privacy-related questions or requests regarding your data.
Children's Privacy
TVBuddy does not target children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app, services, legal requirements, or data practices.
